“Wind River” is an interesting crime drama about a murder investigation on an Indian reservation in Wyoming. Director-screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (“Hell or High Water” 2016) has given the audience a film with an engrossing story and good character development, the one flaw being the excessive violence.
The two stars, Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, play government agents investigating the killings. The pair previously appeared in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015), Renner as Hawkeye and Olsen as the Scarlett Witch. Here they play a U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service tracker and an FBI agent, respectively. Good acting by both.
Veteran actor Graham Greene, nominated for an Oscar for 1990’s “Dances With Wolves,” plays the tribal police chief. The cast also includes Kelsey Asbille, Gil Birmingham, Julia Jones, and Martin Sensmeier in independently produced film released by the Weinstein Company.
