My Review

A new documentary film takes a look at the life of William Shatner, with director-writer Alexandre O. Philippe interviewing him. “William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill” is the result, going over his 93 years and his fascinating roles and his life experiences. He covers everything from “Star Trek” to his expectation of death to his parents in Quebec to global warming, hitting numerous subjects. Surprisingly, politics do not enter much into the conversation.

“William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill” is from production companies Legion M, Exhibit A Pictures, CCG Guardian Entertainment, and Exhibit A Pictures. It is financed by fan-based investments, with the investors getting money back before Shatner or the producers. They seem confident they will, and that includes producers Jeff Annison, Kerry Deignan Roy, and Bryan Talebi. “William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill” is an interesting and always timely documentary, much like Bill Shatner himself.
