“Wesley” is a biopic about John Wesley and Charles Wesley, founders of the Methodist movement in the 18th century that later became the Methodist Church. Director John Jackman, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Carolyn Haywood, crafted an excellent movie with a high caliber feel, including an original score by Bruce Kiesling, performed by a full orchestra.
Actors Burgess Jenkins and R. Keith Harris played John and Charles Wesley, respectively. Movie and television veteran June Lockhart portrayed their mother Susanna Wesley, known as the Mother of Methodism. Another old hand of the big screen, Kevin McCarthy, played Bishop Rider. This was his second to last film appearance before his passing in 2010, in a career that began in 1944.
“Wesley” is a watchable two-hour motion picture produced by the Christian History Institute and the Comenius Foundation.
