My Review

Keri Russell gives an excellent performance as a “Waitress” who specializes in making delicious pies, in addition to dealing with an abusive husband and an unwanted pregnancy. Director-screenwriter Adrienne Shelly put together quite a gem here, in her last work before her death at age 40, three months before the release of the film.

The supporting cast behind Teri Russell includes Nathan Fillion, Cheryl Hines, Eddie Jemison, Jeremy Sisto, Lew Temple, Darby Stanchfield, and Andy Griffith as Russell’s boss. This was Griffith’s third to last feature film. “Waitress” is a low-budget, independent film that was released by Fox Searchlight Pictures.
