My Review

British director Philip Barantini made his big screen debut with the crime drama “Villain,” the tale of a man released from prison after ten years, trying to make a new life for himself only to fight attempts to pull him back into criminal activity. Barantini breathes new life into a storyline we have seen before, with his steady direction and a well written screenplay by George Russo and Greg Hall.

The watchable, independently produced “Villain” was easy to follow for the 97 minute duration of the film. The only downside of this motion picture is the use of graphic drug use and violence in a number of scenes. The mostly UK cast includes Craig Fairbanks, Jade Asha, Mark Monero, Izuka Hoyle, Michael John Treanor, and Robert Glenister.
