My Review

Kristen Bell returns as “Veronica Mars,” a role she played on the television series of the same name from 2004-2007. The creator of the show, Rob Thomas, returns as producer, director, and screenwriter of the film, which did not do well at the box office but was a high quality movie nonetheless.

The story has Mars returning to her home town of Neptune, California, after several years in New York City. She gets back into her old job as a private investigator to help out a friend accused of murder. The storyline was well executed by Thomas, and probably should have been handled as a made-for-television movie instead of one for theatrical release.

Bell, who also served as executive producer, has the old charm in the title role. The supporting cast includes Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Chris Lowell, Percy Daggs III, Frances Capra, Jerry O’Connell, with cameos by James Franco, Jamie Lee Curtis, Melissa Sue Anderson, Harvey Levin, Justin Long, Dax Shepard, and Ira Glass.

All thanks goes to Kristen Bell, Spondoolie Productions, and Warner Bros. Pictures for a nostalgic visit with “Veronica Mars.”
