“Uncharted” is an exciting action-adventure film about two men searching for the famed treasure of Ferdinand Magellan’s expedition of 1519; they are in a race to locate the valuable goodies with a corrupt billionaire. Although there are similarities to “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” director Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland” 2009) actually put together a movie that qualifies as watchable entertainment.
The lucid screenplay by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway is based on the video game series of the same name by Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The stars include Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as the two principals; they more than carry their weight in this picture, with Wahlberg as the veteran and Holland as the new kid on the block, not only in the plot but in acting abilities as well. Others include Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Rudy Pankow.
Sony Pictures’ “Uncharted” is a fun evening at the picture show and has performed well at the box office.
