My Review

“Tuck Everlasting” lives up to its name – it seems to go on forever. Director Jay Russell (“My Dog Skip” 2000) and screenwriters Jeffrey Lieber and James V. Hart seemed to have good intentions but fell short with poor execution of the story. It was adapted from the 1975 children’s novel by Natalie Babbitt.

The acting is passable, but not moving. Alexis Bledel reminds us of her television roles, especially the younger sister Rory Gilmore on the WB’s “Gilmore Girls” (2000-2007). Other cast members include Jonathan Jackson, Scott Bairstow, William Hurt, Sissy Spacek, Amy Irving, Ben Kingsley, Victor Garber, Julia Hart, and Elizabeth Shue in an uncredited role as the narrator.

The unwatchable “Tuck Everlasting” has sprung from a well that has run dry, and was a bomb at the box office for Beacon Pictures, Scholastic Studios, Walt Disney Pictures, and The Walt Disney Company.
