My Review

“True Lies” is an action-comedy picture in which Arnold Schwarzenegger portrays a government agent who tries to balance his top secret spy job with his private life as a suburban husband and father. Director-screenwriter James Cameron puts all of his usual professionalism into this film, which has lots of action sequences, drama, special effects, and comic relief.

Co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, daughter of movie legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, is a good counter-balance to Schwarzenegger as his big screen wife; very good chemistry! The supporting cast includes Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Art Malik, Tia Carrere, Eisha Dushku, Grant Heslov, Marshall Manesh, Ofer Samra, James Allen, and the venerable Charlton Heston in a small but pivotal role as Spencer Trilby.

The very watchable “True Lies” was a huge smash hit at the box office for producer James Cameron, Lightstorm Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, and Universal Pictures. It received one Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects.
