“Trouble with the Curve” is a pleasant baseball picture starring Clint Eastwood as an aging Atlanta Braves scout who relies on old methods and has trouble adapting to changes in Major League Baseball. This project is a perfect opportunity for Eastwood to put his talent and charisma on display. He does not disappoint.
Director Robert Lorenz (“Mystic River” 2003) and screenwriter Randy Brown put together this winsome film that is not only a good vehicle for Eastwood, but also displays the talents of the supporting cast. They include Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Matthew Lillard, Jack Gilpin, Robert Patrick, Ed Lauter, Bob Gunton, Tom Dreesen, and Scott Eastwood, son of the film’s star, who seems to be embarking on a movie career of his own.
The very watchable “Trouble with the Curve” was not a big success at the box office for producer Clint Eastwood, Malpaso Production, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
