My Review

Producer-director-screenwriter Judd Apatow put together an entertaining comedy-drama film called “This is 40.” It is a sequel of sorts to his 2007 product “Knocked Up,” with this film continuing the story of the characters played by Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann, who had support roles in the first one. The storyline here follows the life of the pair as they turn 40, centering on their family life.

The very talented cast had great material to work with from Apatow’s screenplay. Headed by Rudd and Mann (married to Apatow in real life), they include Albert Brooks and John Lithgow as the fathers of the couple, Megan Fox, Jason Segel, Melissa McCarthy, Bill Hader, Charlyne Yi, Tim Bagley, Rob Smigel, Lena Dunham, et al. Maude Apatow and Iris Apatow, daughters of Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, play the two daughters of Rudd and Mann.

The watchable “This is 40” was a modest success at the box office for Apatow Productions and Universal Pictures.
