My Review

“The Wife” features Glenn Close in the title role as a woman reflecting on her life as she travels to Sweden with her husband as he is set to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. Layer after layer of her story is revealed in this tour-de-force of a performance by Close, skillfully directed by Bjorn Runge, from a powerfully written screenplay by Jane Anderson.

The supporting cast was also superb, headed by Jonathan Price as Close’s husband, Max Irons (son of Jeremy Irons) as their son, along with Christian Slater, Elizabeth McGovern, Alix Wilton Rogan, Harry Lloyd, and Annie Starke. “The Wife” is an independent Swedish production.
