Australian cinema has probably reached a new low point in “The Waiting City.” Actors Joel Edgerton and Radha Mitchell play an Australian couple who travel to India to adopt a child. After a while, they discover the process takes longer than they expected, drawn out by bureaucracy. They encounter one problem after another, revealing stresses and strains in their marriage.
This motion picture also drags on and on for the viewer. We discover we do not care about the pair’s marital woes, due to poor writing and a lack of focus by director-screenwriter Claire McCarthy. “The Waiting City” turns out, in fact, to be dullsville, and a huge bomb at the box office.
