My Review

Action and adventure abound in the latest film adaptation of H. G. Wells’ 1895 novel “The Time Machine.” Director Simon Wells (“The Prince of Egypt” 1998), great-grandson of the author, and screenwriter John Logan do a good job in pacing of the film, employing good production values, and telling a comprehensive story with a beginning, middle, ands satisfying conclusion.

The cast is equally up to the task in this project. Guy Pearce has the lead role as Dr. Alexander Hartdegen. based in New York City instead of London. Co-stars include Samantha Mumba, Orlando Jones, Mark Addy, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Guillory, Phylidda Law, and Doug Jones and Alan Young in cameos. Young was a star of 1960’s “The Time Machine” from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

The very watchable “The Time Machine” was successful at the box office for Parkes/MacDonald, DreamWorks Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
