My Review

“The Three Stooges” is a visit to the slapstick comedy short films of 1934-1959 starring the comedy trio of the same name. Producers-directors Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Mike Cerrone, are generally faithful to the original stooges, giving them new life in the form of a formula movie comedy.

The story begins with the three main characters as children in a Catholic orphanage. After several unsuccessful attempts at adoption, they end up staying for 25 years. Threats to close the place get the trio moving to raise the more than eight hundred thousand dollars needed to keep the orphanage open.

Chris Diamontopoulos as Mos, Sean Hayes as Larrry, and Will Sasso as Curly do a good job of recreating the mannerisms and unique exchanges of the originals. The supporting cast includes Jane Lynch, Larry David, Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Hudson, Stephen Collins, Antonio Sabato Jr., and the “Jersey Shore” cast in cameos. “The Three Stooges” performed poorly at the box office for C3 Entertainment, Dune Entertainment, Conundrum Entertainment, and 29th Century Fox.
