Producer-director Norman Jewison (“In the Heat of the Night” 1967) turned out quite an exciting classic heist movie with “The Thomas Crown Affair.” The economical screenplay by Alan Trustman was great material for superstars Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.
The terrific supporting cast included Paul Burke, Jack Weston, Biff McGuire, Addison Powell, Yaphet Kotto, Gordon Pinsent, Sidney Armus.
The watchable “The Thomas Crown Affair” was a success at the box office for United Artists. “The Windmills of Your Mind” won this picture the Oscar for Best Original Song, Michel Legrand (music) and Marilyn and Alan Bergman (lyrics). It was also nominated for Best Original Musical Score.
