A young man hires a bounty hunter to help search for his kidnapped sister in a harsh and lawless region in the old west called “The Thicket.” Director Elliot Lester (“Aftermath” 2017) created a gritty western with good production values, including the screenplay by Chris Kelley. It was adapted from the 2014 novel by Joe R. Lansdale. “The Thicket” was filmed in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with the stunning scenery of the area captured by cinematographer Guillermo Garza.
The cast delivers quality performances, including Peter Dinklage as the bounty hunter, Juliette Lewis as gang leadeer Cut Throat Bill, Levon Hawke (son of Ethan Hawke & Uma Thurmon) as the man searching for his sister, Esme Creed-Miles as the missing sibling, as well as Andrew Schulz, James Hatfield, Leslie Grace, Gbenga Akinaggbe, Macon Blair, Ned Dennehy, and Arliss Howard as the Reverend Ephron Karlsson.
The watchable western “The Thicket” was released in theaters and on streaming services by producer Peter Dinklage, Tubi Films, Nomadic Pictures, Estuary Films, Next Production, and Samuel Goldwyn Films.
