“The Spy Who Dumped Me” is an espionage-comedy film about two best friends who are chased by assassins across Europe when it is discovered that one of their boyfriends turns out to be an agent for the CIA. This is not the best comedy film, spy movie, or buddy picture ever made, but director Susanna Fogel (“Life Partners” 2014) has put enough effort into the project to make it an entertaining feature film. She co-wrote the adequate screenplay with David Iserson.
Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis did well in the lead roles. McKinnon especially has a good on-screen persona. We don’t see enough of her in movies. Co-stars include Justin Theroux, Sam Heughan, Gillian Anderson, Jane Curtin, Paul Reiser, Hasan Minhaj, Ivanna Sakhno, and Fred Melamed. The watchable crowd-pleaser “The Spy Who Dumped Me” was successful at the box office for Imagine Entertainment, Bron Studios, and Lionsgate Films.
