A good example of a bad movie that makes for great entertainment is “The Specialist.” Director Luis Llosa (“Snipper” 1993) and screenwriter Alexandra Seros put together this poorly written and sloppily directed story about two CIA operatives out to “eliminate” a drug dealer, but which also contains loads of action sequences, explosions galore, and the charisma of the two stars, Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone.
The supporting cast includes James Woods, Eric Roberts, Rod Steiger, Mario Ernesto Sanchez, and Emilio Estefan (singer Gloria Estefan’s husband) in a small part. It was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards, winning two for Worst Screen Couple (Stallone and Stone) and Worst Actress (Stone). “The Specialist” was successful at the box office for producer Jerry Weintraub, Jerry Weintraub Productions, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
