Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have produced an enormously entertaining 3D computer animated comedy called “The Secret Life of Pets.” This family-friendly story of what goes on when pet owners go to work was capably directed by Chris Renaud (“Despicable Me” 2010) and Yarrow Cheney (his film debut) and well written by Brian Lynch, Cinco Paul, and Ken Daurio.
They show what dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, birds, et al., are up to when their masters are not around. The film was a big hit at the box office, with a wonderful musical score by Alexandre Desplat and colorful animation best viewed in 3D.
Voice actors include Louis C. K., Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Bobby Moynihan, Dana Carvey, Albert Brooks, Jenny Slate, Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, Ellie Kemper, Steve Coogan.
