“The Remaining” is a faith-based film about what happens to a group of people left behind in the Rapture. Director-screenwriter Casey La Scala, as in his 2002 movie “A Walk to Remember,” has an unfocused approach to faith-based filmmaking as he combines faith and horror elelments in the same show. In “A Walk to Remember,” he tried to combined faith and romance without success. His films tend to loose focus and direction.
The cast includes Johnny Pacar, Shawn Sipos, Bryan Dechart, Alexa Vega, and Italia Ricci, well known as the White House Chief of Staff in Keifer Sutherland’s television show “Designated Survivor.” Affirm Films’ “The Remaining,” an 88 minute motion picture, is not the best “Rapture of the Church” movie but not the worst either.
