My Review

“The Reliant” is a faith based film that tells the story of a teenage girl who must care for her younger siblings during an economic collapse and the resulting social chaos. Although the movie does deal effectively with issues of forgiveness and the loss of loved ones, the otherwise disorganized nature of the plot and a poorly written screenplay by J. P. Johnston and sloppy direction by Paul Munger leaves this viewer with a less than satisfied feeling.

Also present in “The Reliant” is a pro-second amendment and pro-gun message installed by executive producer and star Kevin Sorbo. This leads to numerous action scenes with guns blazing, sparking a PG-13 rating, rare for a faith based picture.

The cast includes Sorbo, Mollee Gray, Eric Roberts, Brian Bosworth, Julia Denton, Josh Murray, Ryan Buggle, among others, in this independently produced movie.
