DreamWorks hit a home run with the release of their very first motion picture back in 1997. “The Peacemaker.” This fast-paced exciting thriller is the story of ten Soviet nuclear weapon that somehow get lost while being transported by train. The U. S. sends a nuclear expert to help, played by Nicole Kidman, along with her military attache (George Clooney).
Director Mini Leder ran a tight ship with an economical screenplay by Michael Schiffer, adapted from the 1997 book “One Point Safe” by Andrew Cockburn and Leslie Redlich Cockburn. The supporting cast behind Clooney and Kidman includes Armin Mueller-Stahl, Marcel Iures, Rene Medvesek, Randall Batinkoff, Jim Haynie, Holt McCallany, Michael Boatman, Joan Copeland, Carlos Gomez, Bruce MacVittie, and Harsh Nayyar.
With an outstanding musical score by Hans Zimmer, “The Peacemaker” was successful at the box office for DreamWorks Pictures.
