My Review

“The Never Ending Story II: The Next Chapter” is hardly a memorable sequel to 1984’s “The Never Ending Story,” but there is enough action to make it a watchable film. Director George T. Miller (“The Man From Snowy River” 1982) and screenwriter Karin Howard did create a movie with a flurry of activity surrounding the bookstore from the first film.

The only returnee from the original is Thomas Hill, playing bookstore owner Carl Conrad Coreander. Jonathan Brandis plays a young man who discovers The Neverending Story and literally gets caught up in it. Other cast includes Kenny Morrison, Clarissa Burt, John Wesley Shipp, Martin Umbach, and Alexandra Johnes. “The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter” was a big flop at the box office for CineVox Filmproduktion and Warner Bros. Pictures. And yet, a third film was released in 1994 called “The NeverEnding Story III,” another disaster in theatrical release, this one starring Jack Black and Freddie Jones.
