My Review

“The Kite Runner” is a highly dramatic story of a man’s childhood in war-torn Afghanistan. Director Marc Forster (“Monster’s Ball” 2001) and screenwriter David Benioff adapted the film from the 2003 novel of the same name by Khaled Hosseini. The Dari language was used in the film, with some English, so expect subtitles.

The three primary characters were portrayed by young actors Khalid Abdalla, Zekeria Ebrahimi, and Ahmad Khan Mahmidzada. Other actors include Homayoun Ershadi, Atossa Leoni, Shaun Toub, Camilo Cuervo, and Said Taghaoui. Excellent performances by all in “The Kite Runner,” a surprise success at the box office for DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures.
