My Review

MGM and star Frank Sinatra collaborated on a rare movie musical dud called “The Kissing Bandit.” This mediocre version of “Zorro” was poorly conceived and executed by director Laslo Benedek (“Death of a Salesman” 1951) and screenwriter Isobel Lennert.

The distinguished MGM supporting players behind Frank Sinatra includes Kathryn Grayson, J. Carroll Nash, Mildred Natwick, Ann Miller, Cyd Charisse, Ricardo Montalban, Billy Gilbert, Sono Osato, Mikhail Rasumny, Clinton Sundberg, Sally Forest, and Edna Skinner. The unwatchable “The Kissing Bandit” was a big flop at the box office for Louis B. Mayer’s studio giant Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, making it one of the least successful musicals in the studio’s long history.
