My Review

“The Intouchables” is a French language comedy-drama buddy film about a poor black man hired to be a caregiver to a wealthy quadriplegic. Young and energetic Driss Bassary seems to bring the middle-aged Philippe Maserati a new lease on life. The chemistry between the two principal actors, Omar Sy and Francois Cluzet, is at the core of this film and what makes it so appealing, even in French with subtitles in English.

Directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano seemed to have had a light touch with the cast and let the actors go with the brilliant screenplay, which they in fact penned. Co-stars include Audrey Fleurot, Clotilde Mollet, Anne Le Ny, and Christian Amen. “The Intouchables” was a big hit in theatrical release for the Gaumont Film Company and TF1 Films Production.
