Matt Damon plays “The Informant!” who blew the whistle on Archer Daniels Midland’s price fixing stunts in the early 1990’s. The energetic performances by Damon, Scott Bakula, Joel McHale, and Melanie Lynskey and the fantastic screenplay by Scott Z. Burns make this movie very watchable, though not a big money-maker at the box office for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Director Steven Soderbergh (“Erin Brockovich” 2000) kept the pacing very even for the nearly two hour duration of “The Informant!” The supporting cast includes Ann Dowd, Thomas F. Wilson, Tom Papa, Tony Hale, Candy Clark, Ann Cusack, Patton Oswalt, and (of all people!) Dick Smothers as a judge and Tom Smothers as the CEO of ADM!
