My Review

“The Greatest Showman” is a very entertaining salute to Phineas Taylor Barnum and his Barnum and Bailey Circus, which was in business from 1871 to 2017. The multi-talented Hugh Jackman took over the title role in an exceptional way, acting, singing, and dancing, even as the storyline took license with the facts of Barnum’s life and career.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote nine songs for the picture, with “This is Me” winning the Golden Globe for Best Original Song and nominated for the Academy Award in the same catagory. It won a Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack for Visual Media. Michael Gracey did an exceptional job in his directorial debut with a great screenplay by Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon. 20th Century Fox took in a ton of cash at the box office.

Hugh Jackman’s co-stars include Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Sam Humphrey, Austyn Johnson, Cameron Seely, Paul Sparks, Gayle Rankin as Queen Victoria.
