Filmmaker Steven Spielberg created an enduring movie adventure classic called “The Goonies.” This story of a group of kids who discover a map leading to buried treasure while being chased by criminals was well executed by producer-director Richard Donner (“Superman” 1978) and screenwriter Chris Columbus.
The cast includes excellent performances, especially by Sean Astin and Josh Brolin in their big screen debut. Co-stars include Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, Ke Huy Quan, Martha Plimpton, John Matuszak, Robert Davi, Joe Pantoliano, Anne Ramsey, Mary Ellen Trainor, Keith Walker, Lupe Ontiveros, Steve Antin, George Robotham, Michael Paul Chan, Cyndi Lauper, and Keenan Wynn, in one of his final movies, as Chester Cooperpal.
The watchable film “The Goonies” was a big hit in theatrical release for executive producer Steven Spielberg, Amblin Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
