My Review

Alan Alda makes an attempt to write and direct a major motion picture with mixed results. “The Four Seasons” is the story of three married couples who vacation together four times a year. One of the couples break up and the others are left to adjust to the new wife. The film does contain entertaining elements to keep the audience occupied, but much of it is filled with cliches and situations we have seen before, especially in Neil Simon plays.

The actors have plenty to keep themselves busy. Alda, Carol Burnett, Jack Weston, Rita Moreno, Len Cariou, and Sandy Dennis play the three couples. Bess Armstrong replaces Burnett as Alda’s wife. Elizabeth Alda and Beatrice Alda, Alan Alda’s real life daughters, play daughters in the movie. The marginally watchable “The Four Seasons” was successful in theatrical release for Universal Pictures.
