My Review

Producer and star Vin Diesel has kept up the quality in “The Fate of the Furious,” movie number eight in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. The excellent screenplay by Chris Morgan has Dominic Toretto going rogue against his own team due to pressure from a cyberterrorist, will played by Charlize Theron.

Returning cast members from episode seven include Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Stratham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Kurt Russell, a long way from his days in Disney films like “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes” (1969). The new kid on the block is Scott Eastwood, Clint’s son, who seems to getting more prominent roles these days. Appearing in small parts are Luke Evans as Stratham’s brother from “Furious 6” (2013) and Helen Mirren in an uncredited role as their mother. She always brings class to any picture she shows up in.

It never ceases to amaze how Vin Diesel and his team and, in this movie, director F. Gary Gray (“The Italian Job” 2003), think up new and over-the-top car chase scenes. The general public seems to agree, as they have bought some one billion dollars in box office tickets to Universal Pictures’ very watchable action-packed film “The Fate of the Furious.”
