My Review

“The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” tells the story of an Arizona teenager in trouble with the law because of involvement in illegal street racing, and is sent to live with his military father, stationed in Japan, to avoid a jail sentence stateside. While in Japan, he becomes involved with the “drift racing” community there. Director Justin Lin (“Annapolis” 2006) put together a film that has good production values and a passable story which is the third film in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise and a standalone sequel to the first two.

The cast includes Lucas Black, Bow Wow, Sung Kang, Brain Tee, Nathalie Kelley, Sonny Chiba, Leonardo Nam, Brain Goodman, Zachary Ty Bryan, Lynda Boyd, Jason Tobin, Keiko Kitagawa, Nikki Griffin, and Vin Diesel in an uncredited cameo appearance as Dominic Toretto. Diesel would return full time with Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster in “Fast & Furious,” the 2009 sequel to this film and fourth in the series.

“The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” was successful at the box office for producer Neal H. Moritz, Relativity Media, and Universal Pictures. The script was penned by Chris Morgan.
