My Review

The Christmas movie “The Family Man” is a fantasy comedy-drama about an investment banker who is offered a chance to see what his life would have been like if he would have married his girl friend thirteen years earlier. This tale is similar to “It’s A Wonderful Life,” without the classic feel, but still an interesting story. It is well directed by Brett Ratner (“Rush Hour” 1998), with a passable screenplay by David Diamond and David Weissman.

The actors deliver good performances, with Nicholas Cage and Tea Leoni heading the cast. Co-stars include Don Cheadle, Jeremy Piven, Saul Rubinek, Lisa Thornhill, Mary Beth Hurt, Harve Presnell, Francine York, Josef Sommer, Ken Leung, Kate Walsh, Gianni Russo, Tom McGowan, Joel McKinnon Miller, and Robert Downey Sr. “The Family Man” was successful at the box office for Beacon Pictures, Saturn Films, and Universal Pictures.
