My Review

Independent filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato produced and directed a comprehensive look at the life of televangelist Tammy Faye Baker in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye.” This 80 minute documentary covered her entire life from childhood in Minnesota to her marriage to Jim Bakker to their PTL ministry and related scandals to her life with second husband Roe Messner.

The film was narrated by RuPaul Charles, and includes interviews with her two children, Tammy Chapman and Jay Bakker, and Messner. Tammy Faye did most of the talking, however, providing insight into her colorful personal history that only she can provide. “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” is a watchable documentary film from World of Wonder Productions and Lions Gate Films. It provided the basis for the 2021 biographical movie of the same name.
