“The Expendables 2” is certainly an improvement over the original “Expendables” of 2010. A neutral observer can get the impression that director Simon West (“Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” 2001) uses this film as a way to employ washed up action stars. Actually, he did employ good production values to make it an entertaining film, with a passable screenplay written by Richard Wenk and Sylvester Stallone.
The story has the Expendables engaged in a struggle with a villain that murders one of their group and threatens the Earth with a deadly weapon. The stellar cast of actors includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Stratham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Scott Adkins, Yu Nan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzeneggar in a small part, his first big screen appearance since leaving his seven year stint as Governor of California (2003-2011).
The watchable film “The Expendables 2” was a success at the box office for MIllennium Films, Nu Image, and Lionsgate Films.
