My Review

Robert Redford and Jane Fonda team up for a third time in the very entertaining western comedy-drama film “The Electric Horseman.” The story of an ex-rodeo star and a television reporter and a horse was skillfully directed by Sydney Pollack (“The Way We Were” 1973). Pollack is an expert at putting together glossy films with big name stars; this one is no exception. The screenplay by Paul Gaer and Robert Garland is also top-rate.

The excellent supporting cast includes Valerie Perrine, Willie Nelson, John Saxon, Nicholas Coster, Wilford Brimley, James B. Sikking, Alan Arbus, Will Hare, Basil Hoffman, and Timothy Scott. “The Electric Horseman” was successful in theatrical release for Wildwood Enterprises, Rastar Films, Columbia Pictures, and Universal Pictures.

Redford and Fonda’s other projects together include “The Chase” (1966), “Barefoot in the Park” (1967), and “Our Souls at Night” (2017). “The Electric Horseman” was the fifth of seven motion pictures in which Redford would work for Sydney Pollack.
