My Review

Director-screenwriter Oliver Stone (“Talk Radio” 1998) put together a biopic about Jim Morrison and his rock band “The Doors.” Stone’s apparently accurate depiction of Morrison and his vices made for a very long two-and-a-half hours in the picture show: Morrison’s alcoholism and drug addiction and his lewd behavior both on stage and in private grew tiresome fast. This film is a complete waste of time.

The cast of actors are all equally obnoxious. Val Kilmer really cut loose in his Morrison portrayal; he surely did not hold anything back. Other partners-in-crime include Meg Ryan, Kathleen Quinlan, Kyle MacLachlan, Kevin Dillon, Frank Whaley, Billy Idol, Kelly Hu, Costas Mandylor, Debi Mazar, Mimi Rogers, Paul Williams, Jennifer Tilly, Michael Madsen, Wes Studi, Oliver Stone, and Crispin Glover as Andy Warhol.

The very unwatchable “The Doors” was a big flop at the box office for producer Bill Graham, Bill Graham Films, Carolco Pictures, Imagine Entertainment, Ixtlan Productions, Le Studio Canal+, and TriStar Pictures.
