My Review

“The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes” is a comedy film where a teenager becomes a genius when he gets an electrical shock while repairing a computer, and the computer’s brain fuses with his. All sorts of zany complications arise from there, with great direction by Robert Butler (“Guns in the Heather” 1969) and a laugh-filled screenplay by Joseph L. McEveety.

Kurt Russell, already a star in movies, became even more prominent with this role as Dexter Riley. He would go on to be featured in two sequels: “Now You See Him, Now You Don’t” (1972) and “The Strongest Man in the World” (1975). Co-stars in this project includes Cesar Romero, Joe Flynn, William Schallert, Jon Provost, Pat Harrington, Bing Russell (Kurt’s father), Fritz Feld, Alan Hewitt, and Ed Begley Jr. in his movie debut in an uncredited cameo.

“The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes” was a big hit at the box office for Walt Disney Productions, Buena Vista Distribution, and The Walt Disney Company.
