My Review

“The Big Kahuna” is a comedy-drama film about three salesmen hanging out in their company’s hospitality suite at a convention, waiting for a prospective client. Most of the movie features the three in extended conversations, with one hot topic being religion. Director John Swanbeck put together a thought-provoking film with a sharp edge and good timing. It was adapted from a 1992 play “Hospitality Suite” by Roger Rueff, who also wrote the screenplay.

The three principals are Kevin Spacey, Danny DeVito, and Peter Facinelli, who display good chemistry on the big screen. Co-stars include Paul Dawson as the bellboy, Christopher Donahue as the bartender, Jen Taylor as Mrs. Johnson, Frank L. Messina as a businessman, George F. Miller as a hotel patron, and Ron Komora as the Big Kahuna. The watchable motion picture “The Big Kahuna” was a flop at the box office for producer Kevin Spacey, Franchise Pictures, Trigger Street Productions, and Lionsgate Films.
