“The Beekeeper” is an action-thriller film about a former government spy operative who goes for revenge on crooks who steal two million dollars from his friend, most of which belonged to a charity. Director David Ayer (“End of Watch” 2012) hired the perfect person for the title role, who is Jason Statham. He fits like a glove into the role of Adam Clay, with excellent material from Kurt Wimmer’s screenplay.
The action never stops, with a talented supporting cast that includes Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Minnie Driver, Phylisha Rashad, Jeremy Irons, Bobby Naderi, Enzo Cilenti, Don Gilet, David Witts, and Jemma Redgrave, of the famous Redgrave theatrical family, as U. S. President Jessica Danforth.
Watching Jason Statham dispensing justice is always fun, and makes the watchable romp “The Beekeeper” a keeper and successful at the box office for Miramax, Cedar Park Entertainment, Punch Palace Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and Amazon MGM Studios.
