A serial killer called “The Bat” has claimed many lives in the small town where a successful novelist lives. The Bat murders one of her house guests, so she seeks help from the police and from her doctor. The thrills, chills, and spills proceeds from there in this entertaining thriller, with good directing and writing from Crane Wilbur (“The Story of Molly X” 1949).
The cast delivers some fine performances including Agnes Moorehead as the mystery author, Vincent Price as the doctor, Darla Hood (famous as part of “Our Gang” movie series 1935-1941) as a murder victim, Gavin Gordon, John Sutton, Lenita Lane, Harvey Stevens, and Robert B. Williams. This was Hood’s final film role. “The Bat” was a low-budget thriller shown in double features, a production of Liberty Pictures and Allied Artists.
