My Review

“The Ballad of Lefty Brown” is a western action movie about a rough-hewn cowboy on a journey across the old west seeking revenge for the murder of his best friend. Director-screenwriter Jared Moshe (“Dead Man’s Burden” 2012) created this traditional western tale with good production values, an engrossing story, good acting, and marvelous scenery filmed in Montana by cinematographer David McFarland.

The cast turn in memorable performances, especially Bill Pullman in the lead, a different role for him over the years since his movie debut in 1986 in “Ruthless People.” The stellar supporting cast includes Peter Fonda as Senator Johnson, Kathy Baker as Mrs. Johnson, Jim Caviezel as Governor Bierce, as well as Joe Anderson, Tommy Flanagan, Lewis Pullman (Bill’s son), Diego Josef, Adam O’Byrne, Joseph Lee Anderson, and Michael Spears as Biscuit.

The watchable horse-opera “The Ballad of Lefty Brown” broke even at the box office for producer Jared Moshe, Om Films Inc., Armian Pictures, Dissident Pictures, Higher Content, Rival Pictures, and A24 Films.
