My Review

Ben Affleck returns as Christian Wolff in “The Accountant 2,” where he and his brother team up to take on the tough job of dismantling a ring of human traffickers. Director Gavin O’Connor (“The Accountant” 2016) improves this sequel with tighter direction, an even more engrossing storyline, greater performances, and a vastly refined script by Bill Dubuque, who originated the story.

The cast is headed by Affleck as the forensic accountant in what is expected to be a second of three films. This role has shown an expanded acting range for the Boston-born-and-bred actor. Other returnees include Jon Bernthal as his brother, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and J. K. Simmons. Daniella Pineda, Robert Morgan, Grant Harvey, Andrew Howard, and Allison Robertson are newcomers to this project.

The very exciting and watchable “The Accountant 2” is a fast-moving movie at a 132 minute running time. It had a successful debut at number three at the box office over the weekend, making money for producer Ben Affleck, Artists Equity, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and Amazon MGM Studios.
