Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a businessman who has been illegally cloned in “The 6th Day.” Arnold does a terrible acting job in the dual roles, and was nominated for three Golden Raspberry Awards for his efforts: Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actor, and Worst Screen Couple. He has never been another Larry Olivier, so all of this is quite hilarious.
Despite the aforementioned thespian difficulties, this is actually quite a watchable film due to the copious action scenes, capably directed by Roger Spottiswoode (“Tomorrow Never Dies” 1997) with a passable screenplay by Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley. Co-stars include Robert Duvall, Michael Rapaport, Michael Rooker, Sarah Wynter, Wendy Crewson, Terry Crews, and Tony Goldwyn, grandson of movie pioneer Samuel Goldwyn.
“The 6th Day’ barely broke even at the box office for producer Arnold Schwarzenegger, Phoenix Pictures, Columbia Pictures, and Sony Pictures Releasing.
