My Review

“The 40-Year-Old Virgin” is a romantic comedy where Steve Carrell plays an electronics store employee whose co-workers try to help him out in his romantic life. Producer-director Judd Apatow has made a comedy in his directorial debut that is surprisingly in good taste and engages in only mildly bawdy material.

Apatow co-wrote the screenplay with Steve Carrell, who himself is starring in his first leading role in a major motion picture. Both exceeded expectations. Co-stars include Catherine Keener, Paul Rudd, Romany Malco, Jane Lynch, Seth Rogan, Elizabeth Banks, and Leslie Mann, aka Mrs. Apatow. Appearing in small parts are Jonah Hill, Kevin Hart, and Stormy Daniels.

“The 40-Year-Old Virgin” was successful in theatrical release for Apatow Productions and Universal Pictures.
