My Review
“Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor” is a gripping drama produced, directed, and written by Tyler Perry. This morality play was adapted from his 2008 play called “The Marriage Counselor” and made into his thirteenth motion picture.
It tells the story of a young woman, well played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who falls into an extramarital affair with a man she knows through work. She eventually leaves her husband for this man, becomes a drug addict, and contracts HIV. The portrayal of a church-going, married woman and her fall from grace before our very eyes is quite vivid, even shocking.
The cast is quite good, including Lance Gross as the jilted husband, Robbie Jones as the “other man,” and Vanessa Williams as her boss. Also appearing are Brandy Norwood, Ella Joyce, Renee Taylor, and Kim Kardashian. “Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor” was a modest hit at the box office for Tyler Perry Studios and Lionsgate Films.
