My Review

Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell team up in a buddy comedy film called “Tango & Cash.” The play rival police detectives in the LAPD who are forced to work together when a criminal kingpin frames them for murder. Director Andrei Konchalovsky (“Runaway Train” 1985) puts together a lot of diverse elements to make a very entertaining film that has comedy, action, and crime drama. The dialogue is pretty good, too, from a well-penned screenplay by Randy Feldman.

The superior supporting cast includes veteran Jack Palance as a sometimes comical crime lord of Southern California, Teri Hatcher in one of her first movies as Stallone’s sister, Michael J. Pollard, James Hong, Brion James, Lewis Arquette, Clint Howard, Michael Jeter, Geoffrey Lewis, Edward Bunker, Marc Alaimo, Roy Brocksmith, and Phil Rubenstein. Good chemistry between Stallone and Russell are a big factor in the very watchable “Tango & Cash,” a hit at the box office for The Guber-Peters Company and Warner Bros. Pictures.
