My Review

Drama in the U. S. Army enters center stage when a colonel impregnates his commanding officer’s daughter and persuades her to have an illegal abortion, resulting in her death, in “Sweet Revenge.” Director David Greene (“Friendly Fire” 1979) and teleplay writer Andrew Peter Marin probably had good intentions but the result was a slow-moving and dull made-for-television movie.

Even the talented cast members seemed sluggish, headed by Kevin Dobson, Alec Baldwin, and Helen Hunt. (All three were on CBS’s “Knots Landing” at various times in the nighttime soap opera’s history.) Others include Kelly McGillis, Alfre Woodward, Dana Elcar, Wings Hauser, Richard Bradford, Rick Fitts, and Merritt Butrick. The unwatchable and not-so-sweet “Sweet Revenge” was aired as part of the CBS Wednesday Movie on October 31, 1984.
