“Super Capers” is a low-budget comedy film about an aspiring superhero who is assigned to a halfway house for superheroes who have not quite reached the skill level they need to help out society. The bright side of this satire of superhero movies is that director-screenwriter Ray Griggs recruited numerous stars for cameo appearances, but failed to execute basic production values such as good writing, an understandable plot line, and simple character development. The result is a motion picture that is as boring as anything can be.
The cast includes Justin Whalin, Samuel Lloyd, Danielle Harris, Chris Owen, Michael Rooker, Oliver Muirhead, Christine Lakin, Eva Marcille, and Ryan McPartlin (of TV’s “Chuck” fame). The list of familiar faces includes Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Jon Polito, Clint Howard, Tom Sizemore, Doug Jones, Isaac C. Singleton Jr., Pat Crawford Brown, Taylor Negron, and the very famous Adam West (“Batman”) and the legendary June Lockhart (“Lost in Space,” “Lassie,” “Petticoat Junction”).
Despite all of these wonderful folks, “Super Capers” is not very super, causing Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions to release the film on DVD only.
